Plasma polymer for enhancing adhesion bonds of a metal/elastomer assembly

Four model plasma coatings obtained with selected parameters and precursors (acetylene, acrylic acid, maleic anhydride) were developed for the preparation of adhesive joints a metal/elastomer assembly. One these layers, pulsed wave (PW), is thin highly functionalized, while another continuous (CW) coated same thickness less functionalized but crosslinked. The other two layers (CW × 2, CW + PW), twice as thick compared PW CW, show chemical criteria. adhesion strength prepared assemblies increasing, mostly depends on precursor type. Moreover, such allow to study mechanism between metal elastomer. thermodynamic adhesion, that is, surface energy closer elastomer one, appears prevail.
